Skin Injection Treatments / Injectables

Treatments for this procedure are BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, Collagen injections, and Fat injections. Many people have skin imperfections of some kind. But for some people, wrinkles, acne scars, chickenpox marks or other imperfections are uncomfortably noticeable. Here at Heartland Plastic Surgery we use a number of different methods - including injections - to produce smooth, clear skin and attractive facial contours.

Skin Injection treatments are used quite frequently in the elimination of unwanted wrinkles on the surface of the skin giving you a more youthful appearance. This treatment is used best when treating two types of wrinkles: those caused by movement of the muscle. (i.e., around your eyes and mouth from smiling or frowning.) The second type of unwanted wrinkle is from gravity. We offer a few injectables to choose from, each with its own benefits to suit your needs.

BOTOX® Cosmetic: Botulinum toxin A - is a wrinkle removing injectable that also prevents wrinkles from forming by paralyzing your nerve endings. As a result, it stops the repetitive muscle contractions that give you wrinkles. It is most commonly used for wrinkles in the forehead and the eyes, but is also used on your lips, nose, chin and neck. This treatment can last for 3 months to 8 months depending on the patient.

Collagen: This is the most popular used injectable, since it is from the connective tissues of the human body. This requires removal of some of the patients own skin. If you were undergoing a procedure such as a facelift, breast reduction or a removal of a scar we could use your tissue for the use of the injection treatment. However, you don't have to donate your own skin. Cowhide collagen is available as well. Collagen lasts 3-5 months and it stays in place very well.

Fat: Fat injections are gathered from your body, but do not last as long as BOTOX® Cosmetic or Collagen since it is reabsorbed into your body faster.

These injectables are injected along the lines of the wrinkle, scar or other recessed area tightening and plumping the lines from sagging skin and scars.
